Summer Camp Update
Current Notes

1.
Medical Exam Forms. We will need these forms prior to
departure for camp. Please ensure when the doctor signs the
form that they date the form as well. If your Scout attended
summer camp last year there is a high likelihood I still have the
medical coversheet, which you can review either this TUE or the
following TUE before our departure. If the form is accurate
then we can use that same form. For those who did not attend
Boy Scout summer camp with us last year we will need the medical
coversheet with the medical form. This is by far the most
important final requirement before our departure.
2. Permission Slips for Camp were issued this past TUE. These forms are also due prior to departure. Here is the LINK to the permission slip.
3.
Merit Badge Books. There is no need to purchase merit badge
books. The Troop will provide these.
4.
Family Day. Family day is WED and guests generally arrive
around 4 or 4:30. Please respond to the Scoutmaster with the
number of guests that will attend family day as this will assist us
in meal planning. The Troop will provide dinner and desert.
5.
Merit Badge Cost and additional items needed. Below is the
additional cost associated with all merit badges:
a.
Archery: $2
b.
Basketry: $15
c.
Fishing: Must provide fishing tackle
d.
Leatherwork: $8 to $10
e.
Lifesaving: Long pants and button down shirt required (no
sweatpants). This is for emergency water survival portion.
f.
Pottery: $8
g.
Shotgun: $1 for 5 shots, Recommend $10
h.
Space Exploration: $6
i.
Woodcarving: $7
j.
Woodworking: $25
7.
Spending Money: There is a trading post at camp where the kids can
acquire candy, soda, slushies’, merit badge items, Scout equipment
(e.g., knives), and T-shirts. Scouts do not receive a t-shirt
and they usually cost around $10 each. For the entire week I
would recommend approximately $20 to $25. Please explain to
your Scout that they are responsible for budgeting their money hence
if they come with $25 and purchase a $15 knife and $10 shirt then
they are out of money. Most Scouts will spend $3 to $5 a day
on a couple of slushies’, ice cream, or other snack in between merit
badge programs. If you would like money distributed to your
Scout please discuss this with me so we can make arrangements before
camp.
6.
Packing List. Here is the
LINK for the packing list I sent out a few weeks back in case
you need to review the list.
7.
Medication. If your Scout requires medication please ensure it
is clearly labeled in a zip lock bag with his name and times
required to take. In addition if your Scout is allergic to
anything, which would require medication please ensure this is
clearly indicated on the medical cover sheet. Very important
for bee sting/yellow dye #5 (both require bee sting kit) and any
other known allergies.
8.
Food/Special Diet. Please notify the Scoutmaster immediately
to this message if your Scout has any new food allergies. This
is primarily for first time campers with the Troop as we are well
versed in all existing food allergies. If you Scout requires
any type of special diet that you believe we may not be aware of
please let us know.
